This radiograph of the chest demonstrates a sharp scoliosis of he thoracic spine. Over 50 % of patients with neurofibromatosis have such a scoliosis and this is due to vertebral body maldevelopment. The process tens to be relentless, and these patients are often fused to prevent pulmonary complications as there is often an associated kyphotic deformity.
