AP radiograph of the right forearm shows a "bayonet" deformity consisting of a short ulna and dislocated radial head, characteristic of multiple hereditary exostoses. Several large osteochondromas produce this deformity. Surgical approaches have been developed to attempt to solve this problem including ulnar lengthening procedures, stapling of the radial hemiepiphysis, and even osteochondroma excision. The latter, however, often yields unsatisfactory results.
